The Rug Aid Rug Rave - 21st November 2009, gallery 1 of 6
Rug makers around the world joined in the fun, some of them hooking blindfold to 'see' what it's like for trainees in The Gambia. These photos (and the others in the subsequent galleries) are in no particular order but they are all wonderful! We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who sent in photos of their Rug Raves, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who raised money for Rug Aid: your generosity and kindness are much appreciated.
Please send in your Rug Rave photos - we'd love to create another gallery!

Diane Best and friend
Forgive me: I know Diane but I don't know the names of any other members of Lostwithiel's friendly and supportive rug hooking group.

Lostwithiel 2
The two hookers are staring off into space as an alternative to wearing a blindfold - it's not easy, is it?

Lostwithiel 3
Closing your eyes in another way to simulate blindness and these two ladies must have been amongst the first to try it.

Lostwithiel 4
The Lostwithiel group met in a private house: Rug Raves took place in all sorts of venues, from a chateau in the south of France to a yacht on Ullswater.

Lostwithiel 5
It was a wet day in most parts of Britain, but these Rug Aid supporters made it through the rain to their Rug Rave: thank you, ladies!

Lostwithiel 6
Kat Smith took these photos of the Lostwithiel Rug Rave and emailed them to me. If your photos aren't here yet, why not follow her example so we can include them?

The Rug Rave in Australia
Sarah, who ran the Narawilly Group in Miriam's absence, took these photos of a Rug Rave on a dry and warm spring day in Australia.

Australia 2
Another photo of the Rug Aid supporters in Australia, hooking blindfold to get an understanding of the problems faced in The Gambia.

Australia 3
The looks of concentration on the faces of these ladies says a lot - it is very hard hooking when you can't see what you are doing, but the Gambian trainees manage it...

Australia 4
This fabulous spread rewarded the Narawilly hookers after their busy day.

Rug Rave in Alston
Jocleyn worked alone at home after terrible storms in Cumbria prevented her group meeting. She gave Rug Aid some bags she had made for trainees to hold their scissors and hooks.

The youngest participants
These students at Samuel Kings School in Alston must be the youngest people to participate in the Rug Rave. Thank you for your support - and it's great to see young people enjoying rug making!
