Durham Rug Rave 2009 Heather's husband Les Ritchie accompanied her to the Rug Rave in the City of Durham on Saturday 21st November 2009. This was a very successful day and £800 was raised through a bring and buy sale, a raffle, ticket sales and donations. Heather and the rug makers at Durham's Rug Rave Rug makers from groups throughout the north east of England attended the Rug Rave, despite appalling weather. Sue Gilmartin made it across from Cumbria, where the most dreadful rain flooded many homes, and the Lucker, Woodhorne, Earsdon, Tyne Dale and Lune Valley mat-making groups were all represented. It was a wonderful day which everyone enjoyed, even the time they spent hooking blindfold, which was a very useful insight into the experience of Rug Aid trainees with visual impairments in The Gambia.
